This book is neither a iece of literature nor can be termed a case study or account of recovery operation in classical sense. It is an expression of emotions of a Commander for 140 of his men who got burie under millions of tons of glacial mass that an avalanche had dumped on their location. These men were the brave sons of soil, belonged o different areas of Pakistan and were stationed at Gyari to guard the frozen frontiers of the country as part of 6th Battalion, the Northern Light Infantry Regiment (NLI). Pakistan Army launched a rescue operation to recover the men buried under the snow. The men employed to launch this operation and who took it to a successful conclusion were also under my command. This book is an attempt to acknowledge the supreme sacrifice made by the men men of 6 NLI and the resolve and determination shown by all ranks of FCNAand Pakisan Army to recover the bodies of Shuhada.
