Urdu is a free and independent language. Its rules and regulations are determined by its oriental temperament and its own internal system. The recommendations of the orthography have the status of guiding principles which have taken into account the oriental temperament, internal system and general practice of standard Urdu. These are not orders or decrees. It is hoped that the recommendations of the orthography will help all those sections who want to get information about the problems of spelling of standard Urdu and seek help from it. Spelling has been popular in the Urdu world for three or four decades. This is its first offering in Pakistan in which many new examples of everyday use have been added in view of today's needs.
