Although he never played cricket professionally, the game has remained Afzal Ahmed’s lifelong passion and a powerful lens through which he has viewed the world.
Over the past five decades, Afzal has emerged as one of Pakistan’s most distinguished private collectors of cricket memorabilia. His carefully curated archive includes autographed books, rare brochures, signed match programmes, historic photographs, and priceless cricketing souvenirs—each item preserving a unique chapter of the nation’s sporting heritage.
Afzal had the honour of contributing rare material and assisting with research for Wounded Tigers: A History of Cricket in Pakistan by Peter Oborne. He later collaborated again on White on Green, co-authored by Richard Heller and Peter Oborne.
After a long and respected career in banking, Afzal is now retired and resides in Karachi with his family. This book is not merely a record of matches and memories, but a deeply personal journey and a heartfelt tribute to the enduring legacy of Pakistan cricket.
