Banu Mushtaq (Author)
Banu Mushtaq is an award-winning writer, activist, and lawyer from the southern Indian state of Karna-taka. She emerged from the progressive Bandaya Sahitya protest literary movement in southwestern India during the 1970s-80s, a space critical of caste and class hierarchies. Banu writes in the Kannada language and her works have also been published in Urdu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and, most recently, English.
Deepa Bhasthi (Translator):
Deepa Bhasthi is a writer and literary translator based in Kodagu, southern India. Her columns, essays and cultural criticism have been published in India and internationally.
