Dr. Khurshid Rizvi is a remarkable and versatile person. t only a noted poet, he is also a recognized linguist, researcher and intellectual. He was born on 19 May, 1942, in Amroha (India), and migrated to Pakistan and did his Masters in Arabic, earning a gold medal. In 1981 he did his doctorate in Arabic literature from the Punjab University. He is the author of several books in prose and poetry and is thoroughly at home in Arabic, Persian, Urdu, English and Punjabi. An educationist and teacher of great distinction, he is a professor Emeritus at the Government College University, Lahore, and has also been associated with LUMS (Lahore University of Management Sciences). In appreciation of his literary and scholarly services, the Government of Pakistan honoured him with Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2008. As a poet, he has received "Ahmad Nadeem Qasimi Award" and "Ahmad Faraz Literary Award". At present he resides in Lahore.
