Dr Zulfiqar Ali Kalhoro is an anthropologist and the author of ten books. His main area of interest is religion, heritage and art of Pakistan, especially in Sindh. he has also researched in the Punjab, Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan on religion, heritage, sufism, folk art, asceticism and mysticism. He has worked on rock art and hero stones of sindh which are located in two different regions of Sindh. Rock art is scattered in different valleys of Khirthar, Bado and Lakhi mountain ranges where Dr kalhoro trekked and traversed the difficult terrain to document the rock art. Like wise, he extensively travelled in every nook and corner of the Tht desert to record the vanishing visual heritage of the region. He has documented sati and hero stones, Jain and Hindu temples. Dr. Kalhoro has also researched on the folk deities of the desert. Apart from Islamic Art and Architecture, he has also written several articles on Sufism, Hindu and Sikh Heritage of Pakistan.
