Mazhar Nisar is an award-winning Prime-time English News Anchor, Program Host, Analyst and voice-caster, poet and Public Health Professional whose services on Television, Radio and in the Federal Government span more than two and a half decades. A celebrated icon on Pakistan Television and star Radio Pakistan English Talk Show Host he is popular among viewers and listeners of PTV English News and Radio Pakistan, reaching homes across and beyond Pakistan with news and analysis. Since 1999 he has presented news and programs in English on PTV Prime-time. For 13 years from 1995 to 2008, he remained the host of the largest daily English Program from Radio Pakistan “Islamabad Calling”. For 15 years Mazhar Nisar remained the designated official Master of Ceremonies and announcer for all state ceremonies at the President House. He has hosted the most prestigious and high profile ceremonies for different Heads of State. Numerous events at the national level, international conferences, seminars and cultural events at home and abroad were hosted and moderated by him. In recognition of his outstanding services, Mazhar Nisar was decorated with the coveted Tamgha-i-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan for the country’s best English Broadcaster in 2007. Mazhar is also a recipient of PTV National Award for Best English Newscaster, Radio Pakistan National Award for Best English Programs Host, Radio Pakistan National Award for Best Newsreader. Mazhar Nisar was adjudged Pakistan’s Best Newscaster for all TV channels by the AGAHI Awards for the year 2017. Mazhar made his mark as an English language Poet when his maiden volume of English Verse The Mahogany Junction was published in 2017. The work won critical acclaim for its creativity, depth and diversity of themes and subjects. Mazhar pursues Television and Radio broadcasting and poetry as a passion. Mazhar has served in the Federal Government as Director responsible for international coordination in the Ministry of National Health Services, Health Education Adviser, National Coordinator for Tobacco Control and in the Prime Minister’s Office as Officer Incharge Advocacy and Communication in the office of Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Social Sector among others. Mazhar Nisar has represented Pakistan five times at the United Nations in the prestigious World Health Assembly. He has also represented Pakistan abroad in 23 different countries in high profile conferences on public health and health communication.
