Professor Karen Lang FRSA is an art historian and writer specialising in modern and contemporary art, with a particular expertise for German and American art. She is known for writing which explores the spaces between art history and philosophy. She has written for academic publications, museum catalogues, art and culture magazines, and curated the exhibition Philip Guston: Locating the Image for the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology, Oxford. Karen Lang is the recipient of fellowships and awards from the Leverhulme Trust, the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts, National Gallery of Art, Washington DC, the Getty Research Institute, the Clark Art Institute and the College Art Association. In 2019-2020 she was Slade Professor of Fine Art and Fellow of All Souls College at the University of Oxford.
