Melissa Valiska Gregory (PhD Indiana) is Associate Dean for Undergraduate Research and Curriculum in the College of Arts and Letters and a Professor of English specializing in nineteenth-century British Literature. The winner of the North American Victorian Studies Association President's Award for extraordinary service in the field, she has published articles on Victorian domesticity, nineteenth-century poetry and the Victorian novel, and, along with Dr. Melisa Klimaszewski of Drake University, has co-edited and introduced four of Charles Dickens's collaboratively written Christmas stories for Hesperus Press, as well as written a biography of Dickens for Hesperus's Brief Lives series. She is also the editor of the selection of original children's verse in the fifth volume of the Broadview Anthology of British Literature. Her recent essay “Race and the Dramatic Monologue,” can be found in Victorian Studies 62.2, part of a roundtable entitled Angry Women and the Dramatic Monologue that she co-edited with Emily Harrington of Colorado University.
