Author Information:

Ross M. McGill, also known as @TeacherToolkit is the founder of one of the most popular education websites in the world, supporting teachers globally. In 2015, he was nominated for The Sunday Times '500 Most Influential People in Britain' and remains the only classroom teacher to feature to this day. As the most followed educator on social media in the U.K., Ross also offers unique social media insights and support for schools and organisations. A teacher for 27 years, Ross is studying for a doctorate (EdD) at the University of Cambridge (2018-2023) and is researching 'How social media networks influence education policy', examining cyberpsychology and digital sociology with a focus on teacher-agency, using grounded theory and critical autoethnography as a mixed-methods approach. His particular interest is on the reliability of Ofsted policy to grade schools. Ross is an award-winning blogger, author, and teacher with school leadership experience in some of the most challenging schools in London. He is frequently asked to speak at national conferences and has worked with teachers all over the world, regularly writing and reflecting on educational developments in various publications about education policy. Today, he is the CEO of his own business and is also a governor, a PGCE tutor and visiting tutor at the University of Buckingham. In August 2018 and after 32 years of silence, he recently spoke out about male sexual abuse to encourage more men to speak out and raise the profile of safeguarding in schools.
