Having opted out of the corporate mainsteam 24 years ago, I was able to indulge in my love for travel and also explore the 'other side of the fence', which is the voluntary or non profit sector. The love for travel resulted in six volumes on the Himalayas and there is a guide to Delhi and Agra on its way shortly. My work in the non profit sector led me to setting up the Atmashakti Trust(Atmashakti means 'strength of the soul" in Hindi, and that pretty much describes what we are attempting to achieve). We are working with over 500,000 underprivileged families in India's most backward state-Odisha(earlier Orissa) and half the royalties I receive goes to support this cause.
