Mrs Dalloway
By
Virginia Woolf
The stream of consciousness techniquee receives unprecedented treatment in the novel.
Novelist, short story writer, critic and literary innovator of uncommon brilliance, Virginia Woolf (1882-1941) was born in London. She was married to Leonard Woolf, writer and founder of Hogarth Press. The Woolfs were at the centre of the Bloomsbury Group, an informal association of intellectuals wishing to free art and society from Victorian restrictions. She wrote her novels, shadowed by insecurities regarding her psychological health and in 1941, fearing that her mental health was irreversible, drowned herself.
